Mediating Disputes & Conflicts

This seminar-workshop presentation is designed to provide basic facilitative mediation skills in a non-legal setting.  Participants will be guided through the steps and stages used in conducting mediation.  simulated disputes, coupled with coaching will be used to apply, practice and rehearse the process. 

  • Outlining the 12 Ground Rules of the mediation process
  • Detailing the role and script of the mediator
  • Measuring the mindset of mediation participants
  • Using neutrality to draw out information
  • Separating the facts from the feelings
  • Confronting destructive behaviors and communication styles
  • Framing and isolating the fundamental issues
  • Extracting solutions from conflicting participants
  • Negotiating mutually agreeable solutions
  • Assisting parties in evaluating the fairness of proposed solutions
  • Forming an action plan for implementation of solutions
  • Involving participants in follow-up and long term remedy plans
